MIGHTY-MITEI am trying to locate my old Off Road Racer and believe it's in California somewhere. Built in 1968-9 from an AMC Mighty Mite air-dropable "jeep". The following description will ring a bell if you know this car. The car is of all aluminum construction except for the steel frame and roll cage. The original design had the engine in the conventional location under the hood, however, on this car the frame has been stretched 24" with a Buick V6 installed behind the driver seats, in a backwards orientation. The engine runs through a Dagenham 4-speed transmission, then a Cassale boat V-drive, splitting the driveshafts to forward and rear diff pumpkins. Both the front and rear differentials are chassis mounted and made of aluminum. Inboard drum brakes are mounted to the diff pumpkins. All four wheels are mounted on motorcycle style swingarms (leading arms in the front) and driven by tubular axles. The engine we put in it was an iron block V6 of '60's vintage, although it may have been replaced with an aluminum model. Car had a steel roll cage installed, a sheetmetal aluminum engine cover, custom headers and a 24 volt, 4 headlight lighting system. The car was originally painted canary yellow and then repainted in an American flag motif. No telling what color it is today. See photos below for more.I am interested in reacquiring this vehicle, condition is not an issue (although price might be). I would be willing to pay a reasonable finders fee ($100) for information as to it's whereabouts. Fee paid upon confirmation of the vehicle, not contingent on my purchase. Any other information you might provide would be greatly appreciated as well.IMPORTANT: To avoid scammers please include "XOXO" in subject line so I'll open your email 899 piney way (google map) (yahoo map) Location: ?????
