Biosearch Technologies is a fast-paced and growing biotechnology company that manufactures and sells custom-synthesized DNA, qPCR assays, and RNA FISH assays to life science researchers and diagnostic companies in the US and abroad. We are looking for a detail-oriented, bright, motivated, team playing self-starter to join our expanding Marketing and Sales team as a Technical Applications Specialist.The Technical Applications Specialist will often interface with various departments including research and development, operations, customer service, quality, marketing, and prospecting leads and customers, to handle post-sales support and draft technical production information for marketing materials, etc. We are particularly seeking candidates who can demonstrate expertise in oligonucleotide applications in the genomics area with particular emphasis on quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). Candidates must be experienced with bioinformatics and sequence manipulation tools such as BLAST. Below is the job description for Technical Applications Specialist:General Duties: Primary responsibility is to support nucleic acid products in their diverse applications, while also preparing the foundation for newly developed genetic methods. This includes drafting literature and supporting documentation, developing relationships with new business leads, managing the accounts of key clients, while providing all manner of technical advice for disparate molecular methods.Specific Duties: - Write and release supporting documentation, including tutorials, while implementing new policies and procedures to better support our products;- Represent Biosearch at trade shows and conferences, to occasionally provide presentations on our products and services to scientific audiences;- Provide guidance to the Marketing team to develop new marketing collateral from a technical standpoint;- Provide technical support to customers and collaborators who request assistance from Biosearch over the phone and through email;- Visit the labs of clients to provide personal consultation, and tour guests through Biosearch's facilities to introduce our own operations;- Perform market research to evaluate the potential of business opportunities in preparation for new development projects or product launches.- Assists in other marketing and product management projects as required.Qualifications:Position requires a degree in the life sciences (molecular biology or biochemistry preferred). An advanced degree in a related field (Masters or PhD) and/or 3-5 years of industry-related experience in qPCR-based applications and related software is highly preferred. This role requires the ability to communicate sophisticated scientific concepts fluently and concisely, both verbally and in written language.Strong written and verbal communication skills, proficiency using standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite® and other programs) and programs similar to ChemDraw are required. Must also be capable of extracting and interpreting data from reports and database records. Position also requires an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is cooperative, has team-oriented work ethic, but can also work independently and exhibit great attention to detail. Must have flexibility in working hours and be available for up to 15% business travel.Location:This position will be based out of Biosearch's satellite facility in Novato, CA. Regular travel to corporate headquarters in Petaluma, CA will be expected.
