The Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the ReStore, including the development of paid and volunteer store staff and the management of donated merchandise, in such a way as to ensure strong sales and rapid inventory turnover.The Manager is also responsible for expanding the scope of ReStore activities, including the development of long-term, collaborative relationships with local trade and business groups, community groups and private individuals to ensure a continual flow of both donations and customers. As part of this process, the Manager also raises awareness of the local affiliate's mission in the community. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:Operational - Drive donations, sales and profits of the ReStore to generate funds for the affiliate and further the local affiliate's mission. - Train paid staff and volunteers in outstanding service to customers, donors, volunteers, and others. - Establish and maintain relationships with potential and existing donors, including individuals, businesses, and community groups to increase the quality and quantity of merchandise donated. - Ensure ReStore is adequately staffed and operated by staff with the knowledge and skills to accomplish assigned tasks. - Prepare and deliver presentations in individual and group settings to create and expand long-term relationships with current and prospective donors, civic and business organizations, governmental bodies, and other non-profit organizations. - Ensure all personnel understand and can effectively communicate the ReStore, local affiliate and HFHI missions to members of the publicPublic Relations, Marketing and Advertising - Participate in developing and implementing a Marketing Plan to work with local organizations and media to further the mission of ReStore and the local affiliate. - Participate in developing, rolling out and measuring marketing and advertising programs to increase donations, sales, and volunteer participation. - Develop and present proposals to the Executive Director for approval or for presentation to the Board.Staff and Volunteer Management - Hire, train and manage ReStore paid staff and volunteers in accordance with established personnel and safety policies, and ensure staff is well versed in same so that all policies and practices are understood and adhered to. - Evaluate, recognize and reward staff and volunteer performance. Address violations of policy including safety, poor job performance or misconduct in a timely and appropriate manner. Properly document incidents, and develop corrective actions. Resolve situations involving volunteers in consultation with the Executive Director when required.Finance and Administration - Implement and monitor systems for daily cash transactions and deposits, including daily cash register balancing and closing. - Monitor the aging of store inventory and disposal of inventory deemed non-saleable after a suitable period. - Working with the Affiliate's Bookkeeper, assist in producing accurate accounting records of revenues and expenses as required. - Maintain and approve employee records of time worked. - Work with the Executive Director and Finance Committee to develop annual operating budgets and recommended capital expenditures.Reporting and Communications: - Prepare a monthly financial report on sales, expenses and profit for the Executive Director and Board of Directors. - Provide other reports as required by the Executive Director or Board. - Provide information on, and reinforce work and safety practices with staff, volunteers and others who will be in the facility. - Keep the Executive Director informed in an appropriate and timely fashion of operational and financial matters.Required Skills and Experience - A minimum of 3 years responsible leadership, preferably in a retail environment, of directing successful teams and being accountable for meeting objectives. - A solid record of applying successful interpersonal and communication skills, internally and externally. - An ability and willingness to call on existing and potential donors to increase merchandise donations to the store. - A demonstrated ability in training, managing, leading and developing staff and volunteers in a consistent, positive, and safety conscious manner. - Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, e-mail and social media. - A history of successfully adapting to rapidly changing conditions with unexpected shifts in priorities. - The ability to safely lift and position up to 25 pounds.
