When we had all of our dogs chipped, we felt it was a safety net to finding our dog(s) if they ever got lost. Well, one of them did get lost and is still lost for almost 6 months now. During our search, we have found that not all vets make it a standard practice to scan new patients coming into their office without prior medical records accompanying them. So, if someone finds your dog and wants to keep it, all they have to do is take it to a vet and say someone gave them the dog and a lot of the vets won't scan. Some will only scan if requested and/or the word "found" is mentioned.Help me fight this attitude with the veterinarians. Please go to www.facebook.com/ChipCheck and like the page. It is an awareness campaign to assist the public to know that this happens. And don't feel confident that your dogs' chip will bring him/her home. That may not be the case. Location: Arizona
